Money Origami KitNov 21, 2009
By Adele Aldridge
"Artist, Writer, Blogger"
The packaging of this book is beautifully designed with a box, some sample money to play with, written instructions and how-to movies of all the folds. I always find a video of origami a thousand times easier to follow than written instructions. So that was appreciated here and well worth the price.
I bought The Money Origami Kit as a gift for someone who knows nothing about origami but says he wants to know how to make money folds. I thought this a perfect way to introduce him to origami where he can learn some of the easier diagrams and at the same time create something that has special meaning for him.
Michael LaFosse's Origami Money Kid is a wonderful gift for anyone including yourself.

Best book/DVD for beginnersAug 06, 2012
By Robert C. Tucker
I've purchased three books on Origami, and this is by far the best, thanks to the included DVD which shows you exactly how to make the folds and is very well done. The other books I bought are confusing and not all that helpful, however I must admit with the Money Origami DVD, it helps to make the other books a bit more useful. I strongley recommend this package over all others that I've seen; at least for a beginner. Hope this helps!

Very nice gift for a beginner or a child. Comes with some actual sized "monopoly money" dollar bills.

Book is average to good. DVD (updated) is excellent.Feb 21, 2011
I was contacted by Tuttle Publishing and was offered an improved version of the DVD free and was told that it was easier to navigate than the original version. This revision of my original review is based on the NEW DVD that was sent to me.
ALL of the models are easily found on the updated DVD by either paging through several projects at a time (located at the bottom of the menu next to Projects), by clicking on Index (which lists all projects), or by simply selecting Play All (which will play each project on the DVD). I am MUCH happier with the new DVD and am happily folding my favourite of the projects, the butterfly.
I am very happy with how the publisher resolved the issue and was kind enough to send us a replacement DVD. Tuttle has provided excellent customer service and I look forward to purchasing more titles from them and the authors of this kit.
ORIGINAL RATING: ***
ORIGINAL TITLE: Book is average to good. DVD was severely lacking.
My son and I were extremely excited when we purchased this kit from a local bookstore. We enjoy leaving our tips for waitstaff in various origami forms. We were looking to expand our repertoire with this book.
The diagrams in the book are better than average. It was a little hard to tell by lines alone which was the valley fold and mountain fold as sometimes the illustrations were small.
There are times when I believe a little more instruction was needed for some of the more difficult models. As to the DVD. I had assumed that the DVD would include ALL of the models contained within the book. It DOES NOT. It only includes the X Wallet, Eye Ring, Stand Up Shirt, Mr. Bill Green, Talking Monkey Ring (called Monkey Face Ring in book), and Plaut's Woven Triangle (called Three-Dollar Step Pyramid in the book). This means the DVD is MISSING Angel Ornament, Four-Dollar Tall Box, Haverhill High-Top Shoe, Five-Pointed Five-Dollar Star, Dollar Bill Butterfly, Cube Box with Lid, Jumping Frong, George Napkin Ring, Business Card Holder, Paper Airplane, Rectangular Box with Lid, Chinese Dragon/Sea Serpent, Thistle, and Wheel of Fortune.
The one model I felt could really benefit from a video was the butterfly. This is made very different than the butterfly made with square paper and many of the steps are a bit confusing. I believe myself to be an advanced beginner to intermediate and I was having major issues understanding the directions for this particular model. I believe a video would have really helped. It would have been nice if the packaging noted that only a few of the models would be included on the DVD. Had I known, I may not have purchased this kit.

some are easier than others so there is something for all stages whether beginner or advanced; it would have helped me if the diagrams had been in color rather than gray.
