Nice Quick Informative ReadMar 10, 2010 Maybe repetitive with respect to his other books, but this book is a nice quick, and well structured read. It provides some great simple rules that really make sense, and help bring us back in touch to what we are eating. Just having some of these rules in mind while shopping has made a big difference. Highly recommended!
Health EnthusiastMar 09, 2010 Good information in a very very broad way which is goo for those who have little knowledge on health. Half of this book is what I would consider common knowledge, but then again i am a very health conscience person. Although most of the book was broad the rest of book however was very practical and very informative. A 4.5 Star Book for those trying to be healthier. It has nothing on Organic Foods which one needs to know how much healthier it is to eat organic or wild (it covers wild foods) foods.
The common sense food handbook?Mar 09, 2010 For me, Pollan points out a ton of ideas that are in my mind common sense. I think this is a great book for the person who eats out 5-7 days a week and has no idea how to cook anything. Also a good book for people that think chips and pretzels is an acceptable dinner. But for the majority of people who actually have interest in a book like this, we probably already have a good idea of what we should and shouldn't be eating.
So, I'd say, it was just so-so. As the very least, it takes about an hour to read so it won't waste too much of your time.
Nicely Done!Mar 09, 2010 Michael adds his sense of humor with facts that make real sense. Was just a bit disappointed there wasn't more detail or examples around the rules.
Food Rules: An Eater's ManualMar 09, 2010 Michael's Pollan's Food Rules: An Eater's Manual is a must have book. This brief compendium of "rules" related to food and our culture of eating provides invaluable information in a succinct and impactful manner. Since I've purchased the book, I've referred to it almost daily and am trying to put its advice to use. Highly recommended.
